Iron ore is the primary raw material of steelmaking, and it is the largest dry bulk commodity moved by sea. ROXAY Trading sources and trades iron and iron ore for mills, industrial consumers and importers.
Grade decides everything
Iron ore is not a single product. Its value and its usability are set by a short list of variables:
- Fe content — the iron percentage, and the headline figure in any offer.
- Impurities — silica, alumina, phosphorus and sulphur, each with its own tolerance in the furnace.
- Sizing — fines, lump or pellet, which determines how the material can be charged.
- Moisture — affecting both shipped weight and handling.
A mill’s specification is a combination of these, not a single number. Two cargoes with identical Fe content can behave very differently once impurity levels diverge, which is why ROXAY qualifies supply against the full specification rather than the headline grade.
What buyers are actually managing
A steel mill is running a process that is expensive to interrupt and expensive to restart. Its sourcing priority is therefore continuity and consistency: material that arrives when expected and behaves the same way each time.
That makes reliability of arrival a genuine commercial variable rather than a courtesy. A cargo that lands two weeks late against a furnace schedule costs more than the discount that made it attractive.
What a buyer needs to define
Fe range and impurity limits, sizing, volume per shipment and whether the requirement repeats, discharge port, and the preferred Incoterm. Where independent inspection is required, the point and method should be agreed before the contract is signed rather than after loading.
How ROXAY handles an iron ore trade
We qualify sources against the stated specification, structure the commercial terms, agree the inspection and documentation sequence, and coordinate delivery against the applicable Incoterm.
Origin countries, mines, suppliers and routes are not published.
Questions buyers ask
What grade of iron ore does ROXAY Trading supply?
Supply is qualified against the grade the buyer specifies rather than a single standing offer. Fe content, impurity levels and sizing — fines, lump or pellet — determine which sources can serve the enquiry.
What information is needed to quote an iron ore requirement?
Fe content, acceptable impurity limits, sizing, volume per shipment, discharge port and preferred Incoterm. An enquiry without a stated Fe range cannot be priced meaningfully, because grade is the main driver of value.
How is iron ore quality verified before shipment?
Quality is confirmed against the contractual specification, with independent inspection and sampling arranged at the agreed point where the transaction calls for it. The test method and inspection point are set in the contract rather than assumed.
Does ROXAY supply iron ore to mills or to traders?
Both. Steel mills buying continuous furnace feed and traders positioning cargoes have different priorities, but the sourcing and coordination process is the same.
